If there is one beauty aesthetic we know Hailey Bieber loves it’s the ‘glazed donut’ look. When she launched her skincare range, Rhode a few weeks ago, she littered all her social media posts with ‘glazed donut skin’ messaging. She even posed with a glazed donut in some of the campaign shots to really get her point across. In case you're unsure what baked treats have to do with skin, Hailey Bieber’s glazed donut skin is all about when your skin looks all plumped, dewy and glossy - just like an American-style doughnut. And now she’s taken the same look and applied it, quite literally, to her nails.
In a TikTok video, Mrs Bieber shows how her nail technician - Zola - created her ‘glazed donut’ nails and shared the exact products she used. And the video went viral. Like, mega-viral. And we can see why. Not only is this look easy to do yourself (although there is a slight caveat to that, which we’ll get to in a minute), but it looks equally fab whatever nail length you have.
It’s super versatile - great for everyday but special enough for a night out - and works whatever age you are. It's not too sparkly to feel tweeny, but also sophisticated without being boring. It's also the type of look that will last really well as chips and regrowth won't be as noticeable. Plus, it makes your nails look really healthy, glowy and…well, glazed. We didn’t know that was a look we needed in our lives, but it seems it really is.
So, if you want your favourite nail technician to give you a glazed mani at your next appointment, this is exactly how Zola created Hailey Bieber’s glazed donut nail look:
1. Zola mixed a few dollops of OPI Pale To The Chief Nail Lacquer, £14.30 - a gorgeous pearlescent, taupe nude colour - with a clear polish to thin it down and then (we assume) applied a couple of coats to Hailey's nails.
2. She then buffed on OPI Chrome Effects in Tin Man Can (professional only) - a shimmering powder that’s only for nail professionals we’re afraid - over the top with a small foam makeup brush to give the nails that very subtle shimmering glazed effect.
If you are more of a DIY nail type of person then don’t panic that you can’t get your hands on the illuminating powder, there are polishes that achieve exactly the same effect.
