Supermodel and 90s icon Kate Moss shares her newly found restorative beauty routine that encouraged her own entry into the wellness industry.

For the longest time in her career, she was the epitome of 90s culture. She was the IT girl of the decade. If there was an exclusive A-list party happening anywhere, Kate Moss was there.

Still today, the ‘Kate Moss era’ remains something emblematic, with grainy film paparazzi shots of the supermodel plastered across Tumblr and Pinterest boards as the quintessential reference of the now, naughties renaissance.

But the now 48-year-old is a reformed woman, swapping out her old party days for a new lifestyle of holistic wellness. From yoga and meditation to her ritualistic go-to elixir that she enjoys every morning in her home among the English countryside, Kate Moss has adopted the ultimate wholesome beauty routine.

As part of Vogue’s editorial series, ‘Beauty Secrets’, the British supermodel shared her entire beauty rituals, from skin and hair to makeup and self-care. And in the true essence of Kate Moss, by the end of the video, we get the sense that this new wholesome lifestyle may too become the new trend in cool girl beauty.

Looking remarkably refreshed as she stands makeup-free in front of a ring light, Moss details her top beauty secrets, all of which starts with a cup of Cosmoss Dawn Tea – her self-proclaimed beauty elixir that forms part of her very own wellness brand, Cosmoss, set to launch later this month.

“It wakes you up; it’s good for aligning your system and [is a substitute for] lemon water, which is apparently really bad for your teeth,” she says.

Here are the top takeaways from Moss’ Beauty Secrets:

Moss starts of the video by taking a sip of her tea, lighting a rose quartz candle and detailing the lifestyle changes that have helped her become attuned to her own wellness.

“I’ve been meditating, doing yoga, just being much healthier,”

And she praises these things as the start of her journey to take better care of herself, beauty included.

If there’s one thing to take away from Moss’ tutorial, it’s that sunscreen is paramount. And it’s never too late to start incorporating it into your daily routine! Moss acknowledges that it was her 19-year-old daughter, Lila who finally convinced her to start wearing sunscreen, and she’ll never look back!

Each day, between cleansing and moisturising, the model applies a toning rose water to her face to give it a clean, tight feel before applying any heavy makeup products.

“It just feels like it’s tightening the skin and removing any excess from the cleanser.”

If there’s one thing that Moss is particularly passionate about in her beauty routine, it’s CBD oil. The Cosmoss Golden Nectar CBD facial oil from her new wellness line acts as another elixir of sorts, which she squeezes underneath her tongue.

“It has a blackberry CBD which is good for everything, as we know. The inflammatories. It just makes you less stressed.”

She rubs it into her hands and chest saying it can be applied topically “anywhere on your body” to absorb all the benefits of the oil’s vegan collagen.

When it comes to applying a base for her every-day makeup, Moss (unsurprisingly) keeps things effortlessly simple. Rather than reaching for a full-coverage foundation, she adopts a light concealer to cover any areas on her face that are of a concern to her.

"I'd have to say I'm not very high maintenance when it comes to doing my own makeup," she said. "During the day, I keep it pretty basic."

She uses two different shades of concealer, which she blends around her chin, nose and undereye areas, following this with a bronzing powder to give her face a little lift of colour.

“I’ve always liked makeup, but I was kind of from the days of grunge, so it was a bit of black eyeliner and then some lipstick, like patted on the cheek. Now I’m a bit more adventurous,” Moss says candidly of her use of makeup.

In keeping with her effortless style, Moss doesn’t spend much time on her hair, giving it a very quick spritz with a texture mist which she massages into her scalp.

"My hair was always a little bit shabby looking,” she says as she gives her hair a light sculpt with the mist.

"I'm very excited to tell you about my new brand - it's called Cosmoss," she shared.

It's a six-piece collection, which includes a line-up of beauty and self-care products that are designed to reflect the model's new holistic lifestyle.

"I was really interested because that's what I was doing with my life. I was taking better care of myself. I was trying new things - all of the stuff that can make you feel more grounded and balanced," she explained. "So, that's what I wanted to bring to my products."

Moss’ move into the wellness space may seem contradictory to the icon we once knew, but it’s evident that this new lifestyle of hers is reflective of her new found life away from life in the limelight.
