All about the partnership and the brand's innovative new makeup brushes.

In a major step toward disability awareness and inclusivity in the makeup industry, GUIDE Beauty founder Terri Bryant has announced actress and advocate Selma Blair as the new chief creative officer of her brand.

Blair, who announced her multiple sclerosis diagnosis in 2018, has made it a personal mission to bring awareness not only to MS, but to all disabilities. In her role, she will "help the brand to accelerate its mission to expand inclusivity in the world of beauty through thoughtful, universally designed products for everyone," according to a press release.

A celebrity makeup artist and beauty educator for the majority of her career, Bryant was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease following a loss of dexterity in her hand. Determined to continue her journey in the beauty industry, she founded GUIDE Beauty in 2020 to help makeup remain accessible for everyone.

“As a professional makeup artist, I felt a natural ability that most of my friends, family, and clients did not share,” Bryant says. “When that ability shifted due to the onset of Parkinson's disease, it became so clear that my needs, like so many, had not been considered in the design and development of the products I had always used, so I decided it was time to create them."

For Blair, the products—which feature a gold ring that's held between the fingers as an extension of the hand—were, simply, game changers. “When I first held the GUIDE Wand, I immediately felt more confident than I ever had with a traditional pencil liner and found myself looking forward to doing my own makeup for the first time in a long time,” she says.

Thanks to their mutual advocacy and love of beauty, working together was seamless. "Upon meeting Terri, we bonded instantly over our mutual love of makeup and its ability to transform a face and a day," Blair says. Now in partnership, the two are trailblazers on a mission to advance a culture of inclusion in the beauty space.

For her part, Bryant expressed that Blair's “devotion to creative expression and advocacy for all people fits perfectly with GUIDE Beauty’s mission and practice of universal design." She added, "When we design with all people in mind, we create the best products for everyone. From the novice to somebody who has challenges with movement or strength and even the professional makeup artist on set, GUIDE’s products enhance the lives of makeup users everywhere.”

In addition to the news of Blair's new role, GUIDE is also launching a new makeup brush collection utilizing the brand's patented GUIDE Ring for ease of use. The brushes start at $24 and are available now online at guidebeauty.com.
